Fun In Darwin

Once again I am back in Darwin visiting my kids and grandson. The climate is great here and there is plenty to do around town and the surrounding areas. I decided not to do any singing gigs here as I had just come off 16 days straight at Daly Waters. I went to the Deckchair Cinema and watched The Rocky Horror Show it was so much fun people dressed up and we were given props I had  a newspaper so in the scene where they are running into the mansion and Janet has the paper over her head we all put them over our heads next minute there was water coming from out of the sky like it was raining everyone sang along to the songs and danced . The waterfront district is such a great place to chill out there are restaurants, coffee shops and stores as well as the wave pool the large grassed area is fantastic and the beach is great for kids there is also a blow up fun water park we spent quite a few days here. Nearby are the Oil Tunnels used in WW2 which you can do a tour through.

Mitch, Jesse and myself headed off to the Casino for a few hours what fun that was good to see my boys together laughing and getting into mischief trying to lead their mother astray!!  Jesse and I went to Crocosorus in Mitchell Street and I almost got eaten by a big lizard we watched the silly buggers go down in the cage of death and got up close to some baby crocs.

What I really like about Darwin is the amount of grassed area along the waterfront there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the outside life along the Nightcliff waterfront you will find coffee vans and food vans here on the weekends. There is a path for pushbikes and walking along there are  work out stations along the way it is really set up for people to enjoy this beautiful coastline. Miss Elly enjoyed her daily walks along here the best coffee is at the Nighcliff Jetty from the mobile coffee van. Darwin is great for dog lovers you can take them just about everywhere as long as they are on a lead.

The Esplanade in town is another great area to stroll along overlooking the harbour and its close to Mitchell street the main hub of the town which is full of restaurants. But of course everyone knows about Mindil Markets these are fantastic markets but be warned they are extremely popular and its can be a bit of a push and shove some nights the sunset from the beach is amazing and everyone flocks to see it.

It was here at Mindil Beach that I married my good friends Seth and Amanda a memory I will cherish forever with the sun setting over the beach they said their vows and it was about time they have been together 19 years been engaged for 11 years I guess they just hadn’t found the right person to do it for them then along came me!!!! lol

So now its time to move on once again to my next stop back to Daly Waters where I have been asked to perform again so a sad goodbye to my family and its back on the road again to another adventure!!
