Kununurra – Western Australia

Kununurra is a great place to visit it has so many attractions close by you can cruise on the Ord River take a drive up to Wyndham, or to Lake Arglye and the dam which are only 70kms away and the start of The Gibb River Rd is only about 50kms away. There are some great pubs and shops down in the main area of town and the information centre is a great place to find out about the area.

We stayed at The Lakeside Resort Motel and Caravan Park what a beautiful spot right on the lake we were lucky enough to have a waterfront spot each afternoon we would watch the sunset over the lake it was magical and its dog friendly. There is a great cafe restaurant here and the food is fantastic and staff really helpful and friendly.

The swim beach is near the Diversion dam wall and a good place to cool off and take dogs for a swim as well they say there are a few Crocs in there but apparently they won’t touch you. Ivanhoe crossing is a must see it is really beautiful but there are crocs in here so swim at your own risk. Celebrity Tree park is a nice spot for a picnic over looking the lake lots of shady grass spots to just chill. There are many 4wd tracks around and national parks to explore.

The Sandalwood factory is only 14kms out of town and the Hoochery Distillery is just past that its WA’s oldest legal still, Kimberley Boab Kreations has unique handcrafted pieces made from the Boab nut and of course there is Kimberley fine diamonds as its not far from the Argyle diamond mine.

I really enjoyed my time here I certainly would come again and explore some more.
