Mount Magnet Western Australia

Mount Magnet is 560kms North East of Perth in the Gold fields it has a population of approx 700 people. It is the oldest operating gold settlement in WA. There is a heritage walk or a 37km drive on the tourist trail.

There are a lot of lovely old buildings here and you can pick up a guide from the information centre which tells you all about the historical sights. The drive is great well signposted and takes you pasts poverty flats where gold was first found onto the lookout where you can see one of the opencut mines and the townshio then to a natural ampitheatre and caves. Then to the railway siding at old Lennonville township its the only thing that reamins here then to the Granites which are a 15 meter high enscarpment there are some caves along here as well lots of great spots for photos.

75 kms from Mt Magnet is the Dalaranga Crater which is about 25mtrs across, lots to see and do here and you can even get a miners licenece and go prospecting yourself.
