Port Fairy

Port Fairy is a coastal town in south-western VictoriaAustralia. It lies on the Princes Highway in the Shire of Moyne, 28 kilometres (17 mi) west of Warrnambool and 290 kilometres (180 mi) west of Melbourne.

The main industries are tourism and fishing and it is the home port for one of Victoria’s largest fishing fleets. Port Fairy has a rich history and 50 buildings are protected by the National Trust of Australia. Griffiths Island Mutton bird rookery is an enjoyable walk. Every year around September the mutton bird arrives for nesting and stay until April when the adult bids commence their pacific migration.

We Stayed at Southcombe Caravan Park it has great spots between large hedges giving protection from the wind walking distrance to town and the marina. This is a lovely little town and well worth a visit after driving The Great Ocean Rd.
