Mount Gambier South Australia

Mount Gambier is located on the slopes of a dormant volcano and is situated halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. At visitor and discovery centre is a full scale replica of the HMS Lady Nelson the brig from which Lietenant Grant first sighted and named Mount Gambier

Centenary tower is in the crater lakes area and a short steep walk will get u to an amazing view over the city and the lakes and through to the sea. It is a 190 meters above sea level

The blue lake fills the crater of a dormant volcano and serves as the citys main water supply  its world famous for its seasonal colour change transforming from a steel grey in winter to a brilliant torquise in summer various lookouts around the rim provide terrific views.

There are numerous shops and restaurants in town and the Main Corner complex has an art gallery cafe and is adjacent to the cave garden which was the original source of water for the first settlers to the area.
