Port Macquarie NSW to King Ash Bay NT in 5 days

We are back on the road leaving Port Macquarie on Saturday the 28th of March. First stop was Smithtown for my Amazing Mum’s 70th Birthday party and catch up with family. First night was Casino then 611klm to Roma QLD there were lots of crops growing sunflowers, cotton and sorghum. I have the cb radio on as I’m driving and 2 guys went past both in utes towing trailers they waved as they went past me then they started to chat about where they would fuel up and stay the night when one said hey did you see that one driving the free fabulous and 50 caravan no way does she look 50 more like 30! The other guy agreed I then piped up and said Thank You he came back and laughed said sorry love didn’t know you were listening I said I was thankful for the compliment he came back with welll keep doing what your doing and when your 70 you will still be able to have the 50 on the van have a good day and travel safe. This is what I like about travelling the friendly waves and conversations on the road. Monday we travelled to Emerald QLD 415klm to catch up with some friends Michelle and Paul and stay the night. Tuesday it was up early heading for our next destination the weather was hot sunny one minute then pouring rain the next so bad you could not see 5 metres in front and driving at 50klm and hour the the sun was out at it was steaming hot it was 35 degrees at 6pm still. We are in roadtrain country now. We travelled 944klm this day stopping at the Big4 in Cloncurry at 7pm a great park had stayed here on the way up last year. Wednesday was onto Barkly Homestead NT 571klms fuel was $1.87 a litre 38 degrees at 5pm this was our last stop before our destination. Thursday 550klms to King Ash Bay on what they call the Beef Rd this road is only 1 single lane of tar so when you have oncoming traffic you slow and move off  half unless its a road train then you pull off and stop next fuel stop was at Cape Crawford Heartbreak Hotel $1.99 a litre then into King Ash Bay arriving around 2.30pm time to set up the camp and stop for a icy cold beer so good when its so hot. In 5 days we travelled just over 3400 klms. All ready now for my first gig on Friday night.
